Atlanta Braves 2018 Trade Deadline Targets

Chase Headley Changes Scenery
It didn’t take long to find out just how bad the San Diego Padres are this season. They currently are at the bottom of their division, appearing overmatched in most matchups. With an iffy roster and no chance at making the postseason, a veteran sell-off is likely
Headley could be one of the first pieces the Padres would pay someone to take. Headley has looked awful at the plate and is in the final year of a contract paying him $13-million.
With this in mind, you have to be asking yourself why the Braves would want Headley? The answer is simple, he perfectly fills a need on the roster.
Ryan Flaherty will begin to fade as the season wears on, and there are plenty of questions about Jose Bautista. If the Braves find themselves in need of a stopgap or platoon option, Headley could be the perfect answer.
The Padres will likely give Headley away unable to be able to unload his full contract. This would fit well with the Braves plan to add veteran talent as role players.
If the Padres were unwilling to take the majority of the loss trading Headley, the Braves shouldn’t look twice at the infielder.
