Matt Ryan’s Contract Has Ripple Affect on These NFL Players
Tevin Coleman– The Falcons did an excellent job of filling in needs in free agency prior to the NFL Draft despite not having much cap space. Tevin Coleman was exceptional in filling in for starting Running Back Devonta Freeman last season in the games he missed due to a concussion. He helped Atlanta win games when there was panic after a 4-4 start.
The reality of the situation is that the Falcons can’t pay everybody. Freeman got his extension and the next big name in Atlanta to get one will be Julio Jones. Coleman is in a contract year and the Falcons may let him walk due to the limited cap space.
Many believe this is the reason why they drafted Running Back Ito Smith out of Southern Mississippi in the fourth round of the draft; to make up for the possible departure of Coleman. Coleman will end up getting his due regardless.
If the Falcons are not able to pay him, another team will next spring. He has already displayed flashes of explosiveness and as a physical back who can get in the end zone.
He had fumbling issues in the past but seems as if he’s a ready running back who can dive in the trenches and get teams those crucial first downs to extend drives and execute on the goal line.
