Rookie quarterbacks such as Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Josh Rosen must have their contracts done immediately so that the Browns and Jets won’t break the bank- We know that teams will do everything they can to solidify a long-term quarterback.

The Browns and Jets can avoid that now by giving Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold contracts now such as a 4-year, $12 million deal as rookies. The Falcons just inked a similar deal with Calvin Ridley on a 4-year, $10 million deal.

Four years should be sufficient enough time for these quarterbacks to prove that they’re franchise quarterbacks and so that the debate of being overpaid won’t be an issue for these struggling franchises moving forward.

These situations also apply to Josh Allen and Josh Rosen. Coming into the draft, the hype was real for both of them so they also have chips on their shoulder of proving that they’re franchise quarterbacks.

Like Mayfield, Rosen has the same cocky ego who feels that he’s deserving of a huge deal. The Cardinals need to make sure he meets those expectations so their salary cap money doesn’t go down the drain.

The Cardinals did see some success with Carson Palmer at quarterback but he wasn’t the franchise player that Larry Fitzgerald needed to throw him passes. It’s time for Rosen to prove that and help put Fitzgerald in position to contend for a Super Bowl one more time before he retires.
