Matt Ryan’s Contract Sets the Standard High

Ryan’s new contract won’t only be furthering the cap space. It will be putting expectations higher both on the quarterback and on the team.

Last year’s huge step back after lighting the League on fire won’t be accepted. Matt Ryan must put his foot on the gas pedal and keep it to the floor all season long.

Fans are tired of Atlanta losing, tired of the 28-3 jokes, tired of the ineptitude of all Atlanta sports teams.

Ryan’s new contract speaks to a desire to win no matter the price and expectations will skyrocket as quickly as the salary cap.

They should consider the talent surrounding Ryan and the chance to win a Super Bowl in front of the home fans.   Julio Jones is likely to have a better season and Calvin Ridley is an upgrade over Taylor Gabriel.

If the Falcons’ Offensive Coordinator can call a more consistent game this season the offense will take a step forward.  The game calling was questionable last season and it was debatable if a change should be made.

The fact a change wasn’t made was mainly due to the fact Matt Ryan didn’t hesitate to have his coach’s back.   Now it is time to put it all together.
