The Falcons attempted to find a defensive stud in round one. Did it work out for them?

The pick: Sean Weatherspoon, Linebacker, 19th overall

Their impact: Weatherspoon ended up playing for six years in Atlanta.

He made 44 starts throughout the six years, but only three in his last two seasons.

In total, he had over 300 tackles for the Falcons along with 8 sacks and two interceptions.

Who else was available that round?: The rest of round one was filled with several Pro Bowlers.

Dez Bryant was recently cut by the Cowboys, but he recorded over 7,000 during his time in Dallas.

He also brought in 73 touchdowns, 531 receptions, and started nearly 100 games for the team.

It might surprise people, but Demaryius Thomas has more yards than Bryant since the draft.

Thomas has snagged 629 receptions, 8,653 receiving yards, and 57 touchdowns in Denver.

He also helped the Broncos win a Super Bowl alongside Peyton Manning.

Devin McCourty is a three-time All-Pro, two time Pro Bowler, and a two-time Super Bowl Champion.

He has 20 interceptions during his career and has been solid for the Patriots since going 27th overall.

Would they switch the pick?: Yes.

Would they take one of the guys mentioned above? Tim Tebow?!

The last suggestion is a joke, but I think it comes down to Bryant or Thomas.

Do you prefer the touchdown threat or the more consistent possession receiver?

The Falcons have struggled with drops over the past few years, so I’m giving the pick to Thomas.

There is a very valid argument to be made for Bryant, but I feel confident picking Thomas here.
