After wasting a pick in the 3rd, did the Falcons do better in the 4th?

The pick: Joe Hawley, Guard, 117th overall

Their impact: Hawley appeared in 57 games for the Falcons, making 23 starts in five years.

He never started a full season though and continued the downward trend of this draft.

Who else was available that round?: Geno Atkins would have gone in round one if teams knew how good he’d be.

He is a six-time Pro Bowler with 61 sacks and 290 career tackles.

As a defensive tackle, he has two seasons with double-digit sacks.

Look up his stats in 2012 and you’ll understand the impact he’s made for the Bengals.

It blows my mind that he lasted until the 4th round because he’s been solid his entire career.

Would they switch the pick?: If they didn’t, the entire front office should be fired.

Atkins is still racking up sacks for the Bengals, and Hawley never made a huge impact.
