4. Bring  a Veteran Presence to the Top of the Rotation

Dallas Keuchel is set to hit the open market and will garner a lot of attention considering his resume. With the exception of one bad season, Dallas has been one of the top pitchers in baseball for the last five years.

Houston will be the favorite to land him considering he did win a ring in Houston. There is also the fact they need him more desperately than the Braves considering the Braves top young pitching.

Still, it would be a great fit for the Braves. They would have a much-needed ace and a veteran presence to help lead a very young pitching staff.

The only problem here for the Braves would be the length of the deal. With a farm full of up-and-coming arms it is doubtful the Braves would lock up a rotation spot for more than 3-4 years. With last year’s stale free agent market it wouldn’t be surprising to see him sign such a deal.

Keuchel has a career 3.62 ERA but has only pitched 200 innings or more twice. It would be a good fit for the Braves but only at the right length and if their other top targets choose other destinations.
