3. Move on From Underachieving Charlie Culberson and Bring Back a Familiar Face

Charlie Culberson seems like a great guy and fills whatever role the Braves ask him to take on. Those are good skills to have, but an even better one is the ability to hit. A skill Charlie seems to lack.

So far this season Culberson is hitting an awful .196 and his at-bats are almost foregone conclusions. The Braves need a utility infielder, but one who can hit. Culberson could likely find a home with another team in need of a utility man.

The Braves seem to have a wealth of them with Johan Camargo more than capable of serving that role once Dansby Swanson returns. Once that happens Culberson should be on the move and in his place the Braves should call up a familiar face.

Phil Gosselin is hitting .293 so far this season with the Triple-A Stripers and is a far better hitter than Charlie. While his defense may not be as sharp, he fills the role just as effectively and is a more balanced player.

Culberson was part of a salary dump trade between the Dodgers and Braves. It is now time to dump his salary and move on to a bench piece who can provide something Culberson cannot, quality at-bats.
