The Atlanta Braves Should Consider Trading These Five Players
By Kit Anderson
5. Time for The Braves to Move on From Rio Ruiz
Austin Riley is the future starting third baseman for the Atlanta Braves. While Rio Ruiz was thought to be a possible bridge or future starter his time in Atlanta should come to an end. At only twenty-three he could still figure it out just not in Atlanta.
Ruiz has been one of the bigger recent disappointments for Braves’ fans. His development hasn’t panned out as the organization was hoping and because of that, it is time to move on. A change of scenery for Ruiz and for the Braves would be best for both sides.
He is hitting only .239 so far this season in Triple-A and is unlikely to earn a look at any point this season.
Deciding to trade him for any return the Braves could get would be a good move for both sides. If Austin Riley were not tearing through the Minor Leagues the approach should be different. But, with Riley well on his way and Jose Bautista and Ryan Flaherty competing for time at third, there isn’t room for Ruiz.
The Braves have plenty of decisions to make between now and when the trade market starts to heat up. Be sure and leave us a comment below letting us know who you believe the Braves should or shouldn’t trade this season.
