Revisiting the Atlanta Falcons 2011 NFL Draft
The Falcons drafted a punter in round six, but our hypothetical team already has one. How do they proceed?
The pick: Matt Bosher, Punter, 192nd overall
Their impact: Bosher has been the Falcons’ starting punter since being drafted.
He has 420 punts for 19,240 yards and an average of 45.8 yards.
It’s difficult to describe the impact of a punter in words, but he’s been consistent for Atlanta.
He’s not the most well-known punter in the league, but the Falcons are definitely happy with this pick.
Who else was available that round?: A bunch of backups and practice squad players.
The end of the sixth round was rough, besides Bosher and Jason Kelce, who went 191st overall.
Would they switch the pick?: I don’t think so.
I understand we already have a punter on the roster.
Who needs two punters? WE DO. Just kidding.
We definitely don’t but we can let Bosher and Kevin Huber fight for a roster spot and see who sticks.
I’d much rather have Bosher than a player who will never actually see action in the league.
We’ll figure out the logistics of having two punters later, but for now, you’re stuck with us, Bosh.
