4. Apparently, a world exists where you trade the best defender I have seen on a baseball field

Watching Andrelton Simmons play for the Atlanta Braves was one of the best things I have been able to watch happen in sports. This isn’t just a hot take or fun hyperbole and for the Braves fans who watched Simmons, they know this.

Simmons was a wizard with his glove and serviceable at the plate. He is certainly better than any shortstop the Braves have trotted out since he left.

Nearly three years have passed since this deal was done and I am still not over it. The Braves traded Andrelton Simmons to the Angels in exchange for three different pieces.

Sean Newcomb is the only player the Braves still have from the deal and he is starting to show the promise that could ease the pain of the trade. Still, in this hypothetical what-if world, I am creating for myself having Simmons at shortstop and Alex Wood back in the rotation would fix both of these holes.

Trades help during a rebuild but trading just for the sake of it seemed to happen at times with the Braves. This deal is yet to be fully determined but in my opinion, it is pretty obvious the Braves were fleeced out of one of the best defenders ever to step on the diamond.
