5. Chris Johnson Had One Great Season

Chris Johnson is and was a platoon player. He had one good season with the Braves after joining them in the deal that brought Justin Upton to Atlanta and the Braves made the obvious move.

For the Braves at this point in history, the obvious move was to overpay Johnson based on the outlier year not on his career.

Johnson signed a three-year $23-million dollar deal with a club option for this season. Johnson was great at overreacting and bringing intensity to the game. Aside from that, this contract was a loss that turned into more aging players.

Johnson’s time with Atlanta will be remembered without the hate fans may have for B.J. or Uggla but his deal was a huge miss nonetheless.

The Braves dumped his deal on the Indians and the Indians dumped Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn in exchange. Since then Johnson has fared even worse and seems to be out of work for the time being.
