An Upgrade at Closer

Atlanta has had for the most part a very solid bullpen. They have five relievers with a sub-3 ERA and nobody with an ERA above the 4 mark. While that may be the case, they could use a seasoned veteran with closing experience, and Kelvin Herrera would fit that mold.

This is not to say that Arodys Vizcaino hasn’t handled the spot well, but he has been shaky in a couple of his outings, including one of his most recent ones in which he blew a 2-1 lead against the Cubs.

Herrera has had quite the start to his 2018 campaign, boasting a 1.15 ERA, 14 strikeouts, while recording  8 saves. He is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, which could make him a much more attractive piece for Atlanta simply based on the fact that he wouldn’t cost as much if he had a year left on his contract.

The Royals (13-30), as of now will be sellers, and who better to pair up with than the Braves, who still have one of if not the best farm systems in all of baseball.

Herrera still will cost a pretty penny, but in turn, it would add an experienced closer that would allow Vizcaino to fall back into a set-up role, which would suit him well.
