Add an Ace with Archer

Chris Archer is a guy that has been on the Braves radar for a few years now, and he could quite possibly complete their rotation.

The 29-year-old righty is off to a rough start this year, but it shouldn’t be cause for concern. Archer is coming off a brilliant performance against the Angels going 6 and 2/3’s innings allowing no runs while striking out five. Archer has pitched to a 3-3 record this season with a 5.01 ERA.

Another factor that might convince the Braves to go after Archer is that his price will be much lower than last year. Archer only has one year left on his contract, and as mentioned before his performance hasn’t been stellar this year, which could allow Atlanta to persuade the Rays to lower the prospect price.

The Braves are loaded with pitching prospects, and we quite possibly could see the promotion of Kolby Allard to the majors sooner rather than later. However, with that being said, the Braves front office won’t balk at the chance to add a proven ace like Archer if the price is right.
