Lebron James Counting on Former Atlanta Hawk Kyle Korver
By Kit Anderson
Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in danger of falling down 3-0 to the Boston Celtics. No player will be counted on by Lebron as much as Kyle Korver in a pivotal game 3.
Lebron James is helping to remind all of the NBA no player can win a championship alone. Lebron has dragged a Cav’s roster to the Conference Finals with very little help. Kevin Love and Kyle Korver have been the only consistencies in the Cav’s wins.
Kyle Korver is a three-point specialist Hawk’s fans will remember well. He spent some of his best years with the Hawks as a starter. He started along with current Celtic’s center Al Horford.
For Lebron James, no player will be more important to the Cav’s getting an early start on Saturday. J.R. Smith and Rodney Hood have been awful for a lot of the playoff run. Smith has shown up for several games but made up for it by playing awful for the rest of the time.
Hood hasn’t even been remotely effective. Kyle Korver is the only knock-down shooter for the Cavs that Lebron can count on in game three.
That fact makes Korver getting going early for the team huge. Korver is the only player aside from Lebron that demands a wrestling match disguised as defense. Every other player can be afforded a bit of space.
Korver and Lebron on the court at the same time creates chances for other players if Korver is on. If not the Celtics will plug the lane and slow down Lebron.
If he can hit his shots the Celtics will focus a lot of attention on Korver making life easier for Lebron and opening up chances to get guys like George Hill going.
Kyle Korver was the biggest factor for the Cavs in the Pacers series aside from game seven he had big games in all the wins. Getting him going is the biggest key to the Cav’s offensive success. The biggest key in general? The Cavs must decide to at least attempt something resembling defense.
Kyle Korver is finding out the same thing several former Atlanta Hawk’s players have, it is much easier to play with Lebron James than against one of the best ever to play.
