Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 2001-2006, Virginia Tech. Michael Vick. 4. player. QB. 44

The most controversial ranking on here is the short-lived but exciting Michael Vick coming in at number 4.

Selected with the first overall pick of the 2001 NFL Draft, Michael Vick is a controversial favorite for Falcons fans. A lot of fans believe he was the best Falcons quarterback of all time but I’m going to upset those people with this ranking because I firmly believe that Michael Vick is only our 4th best quarterback. He ripped defenses apart and was a nightmare for every defensive coordinator in the NFL during his short time with Atlanta.

For me, he was the first mobile QB and an idol growing up but after re-watching his tape he could run through 11  Saints players for 50 yards and then on the next play miss a wide open receiver by 10 yards. And let’s not forget his trademark “one hand on the ball” style of running, which certainly looked cool but led to multiple fumbles as he almost never slid to escape a hit.

He was a human highlight film sometimes but his bad decisions and plays outnumbered his highlights. He was electric when he played and tore defenses apart but he never could get to the Super Bowl and his numbers don’t compensate that.
