Former Atlanta Braves Manager Bobby Cox is celebrating his 77th birthday. The former Braves skipper remains one of the most popular past managers in the Braves’ history.

Bobby Cox is an Atlanta Braves icon. Today he is celebrating his 77th birthday, a significant day for the Braves and their fans. Bobby Cox was one of a kind, in the best sort of way. The former Braves manager fought for his team and his players and was a good manager.

Bobby finished his managing career with over 2,500 wins including all of Atlanta’s best seasons as a franchise.  He led Atlanta to their only World Series title and is the best manager (in my opinion) in Braves history.

His aggressive nature would get the better of him in favor of his team. Watching Bobby argue calls and get tossed are some of my favorite memories as an Atlanta Braves fan.

Bobby always had his player’s back and did his best to make the moves the Braves needed to win. While he made some questionable calls in his career he made just as many good ones. Calls that won the Braves ballgames and kept them in constant contention.

He finished with a.556 winning percentage and helped the Braves through years with limited talent. He also is a four-time manager of the year and the all-time leader in one stat you would expect him to lead.

All-time ejections is an interesting list to read with a familiar name at the top. Bobby Cox has been thrown out of the baseball games more so than any manager in baseball history.

A fitting stat for one of the best managers ever to sit in a dugout to lead in. Bobby has remained active for the Braves and will stay active in the franchise he has helped to define. Happy Birthday, skipper enjoy your retirement you have earned it!
