Atlanta Falcons: Ricardo Allen Wants a New Deal
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons safety wants a new deal. He hasn’t signed his restricted free agent tender and is waiting for a new long-term deal. It seems to be an issue plaguing the Falcon’s roster.
The Atlanta Falcons have another contract issue to take care of with safety Ricardo Allen making it clear he wants a new deal. Allen is an above average safety who watched Matt Ryan get paid and now wants a deal of his own.
Paying Allen is going to be tough with how many other contracts the Falcons have they must address.
Allen not signing his tender is an irritating move considering Julio Jones, Jake Matthews, and Grady Jarrett are all already wanting a new contract.
Waiting until his time comes would be best for Allen and the Falcons. Allen isn’t Julio Jones he isn’t a top player at his position. He doesn’t have the power of Julio Jones considering his lack of talent in comparison.
According to NFL Trade Rumors Allen had this to say on his contract situation.
“I have a tender,” Allen said. “I haven’t signed it yet. That’s what you all hope for (a long-term contract)…I just take it day by day. I come out here and do my best for the team. I put myself in a good situation and I want to keep going.”
The fact so many players are asking to be paid and have won nothing as of yet is concerning. It is what destroyed the Seattle Seahawks and what could be the issue for a talented Falcon’s roster.
The difference is the Seahawks made and won the Super Bowl before demanding pay raises and contracts. The Falcons are going to have to make some tough decisions as to who they will pay and who they will move on from.
