After two series of head injuries, the Atlanta Falcons need Devonta Freeman to stay healthy in 2018. Staying healthy will be an important step for Freeman as the Falcons decide his future.

Devonta Freeman has had back to back concerning injuries with the Atlanta Falcons. Two head injuries are cause for concern for the hard-hitting running back. The Falcons will need Freeman to prove he can stay healthy in 2018.

Head injuries are becoming more and more concerning for players who take part in a contact sport. The repercussions they have go well beyond football and are concerning for Freeman.

The fact Freeman has had two recently should concern the Falcons. Another could put his career in jeopardy. For the Falcons this is their last season with Tevin Coleman under contract.

With that in mind, the Falcons need to make sure Freeman can stay healthy for a full season before parting ways with Coleman.

Devonta Freeman has spent four seasons with the team. Two of the four seasons Freeman has spent in Atlanta were 1,000 yard rushing seasons an impressive number for a good running back.

Watching Freeman this season fans have to hope he can stay healthy and return to form. With Freeman and Coleman healthy the Falcons have the best backfield tandem in the NFL.

Add in Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones and the Falcons should be at the top of the League in scoring. Freeman is the hard hitter of the running back duo seeking out contact or making tacklers miss with jump cuts.

He will be coming into the new season looking to prove to the Falcons he can handle all the carries with Coleman likely moving on to another starting job after this season.
