The NL East leading Atlanta Braves (32-22) walked off with another win Tuesday night. The national media aren’t buying their success.

During Spring Training, there was a buzz around this Atlanta Braves team. Every team has it, but most fans are delusional, or overly hopeful. The early success for our National League East Division leading Braves, thus far, has validated that early optimistic prognostication. A quick look around the national MLB media, though, and one sees that they aren’t buying it. In fact, they are somewhat dismissive.

Generally speaking, writing about something one has read elsewhere can lead down a rabbit hole of whining, finger-pointing, and echo chamber nonsense. Still, there are times when one doesn’t have a choice. Today was one such time.

More from ATL All Day

Take a gander at some of the national sites that cover MLB, and you’ll find one constant: No Atlanta Braves coverage. CBS Sports is the most egregious. Two full articles explaining why the Washington Nationals winning, or “taking over”, the NL East is a fait accompli are featured prominently, and a full video where one interviewee admits it is dismissive to Atlanta (and Philly) to crown the Nats, but then does so anyway.

Fox Sports doesn’t try to lick Washington’s cleats, but there is no Braves coverage, either. Our brothers, sisters, and cousins over at Sports Illustrated are also absent any Atlanta coverage. The “four letter network” actually has a nice article written about Markakis and Flaherty and their family. That’s nice. There’s also a mention of Tuesday night’s walk off by Johan Camargo. That’s also nice.

The point here isn’t to whine. Although, there is some of that. Rather, it is to point out the absurd and ridiculous dismissal of a team, our Atlanta Braves, that is currently leading one of the tougher MLB divisions, and one that is, objectively, exciting to watch and cover.

Is it still early in the season? Sure. Are the Nats a dangerous team that is surging with great pitching and large bats? Yes.

But the Phillies aren’t bottom shelf jug wine. And I can guarantee you that these Atlanta Braves are going to be a tough out from here on out.

In summation, the national media conglomerate, and their writers, that mainly exist in the Washington to New York corridor, are either willfully obtuse when it comes to our Braves or are in the tank and doing the bidding of check signers.

Either way, it gets old. But so does whining. Let’s end it here for now.

Some things, though, deserve the clinched written fist.
