NBA Draft Workouts are winding down for the Atlanta Hawks. Many of the top prospects have visited The Atlanta Hawks’ facilities.

The Hawks brass has wined and dined, interviewed, and put the prospects through a variety of different drills. New Head Coach Lloyd Pearce has even defended many of the prospects one on one himself.

All of the processes and procedures of the last few weeks have been done with 1 major goal in mind. The end goal is unlocking the key, to who can be the Atlanta Hawks 1st megastar in years. Today we compare and contrast 2 prospects, Duke Forward Marvin Bagley, and Texas Center Mohamed Bamba. Both players went through individual workouts for the Atlanta Hawks, and are certainly in consideration to be chosen #3 overall.

Bios

Marvin Bagley III

Marvin Bagley is a 6’10 PF/C from Duke University, by way of Phoenix Arizona. He was on the USA Today 1st team for High School players, before heading to Duke. The Freshman was the ACC Player of the Year and was a consensus 1st team all American. He was also 1st Team All ACC, and the conference’s newcomer of the year. Bagley was originally a member of the class of 2019, but he reclassified in order to play at Duke in 2018.

Mohamed Bamba

Mo Bamba is a 7 foot Center from the University of Texas, via Harlem High School in New York. Bamba was selected as a McDonald’s All American, after his Senior Year of HS. Bamba was a Wooden Award finalist. Mo was 2nd Team All-Big 12, as well as 1st Team Big 12 All-Newcomer Team, at Texas. He was also 1st Team, Big 12 All-Defensive Team.

Measurables

Bagley III

The 6’10 Bagley weighs 234 lbs and has a wingspan of 7’0. Body wise, he compares favorably to Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers. The fact that he was the only player at the combine to skip the measurables portion was concerning to executives for many NBA teams.

Bamba

Bamba the 7’0 Center has an incredible, NBA Combine Record Wingspan of 7’10”! He weighs 225 lbs, and has a standing reach of 9’8″. Physically he compares closely to Utah Jazz Center Rudy Gobert. He also ran the 3/4 court sprint faster than guards such as Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and John Wall, at the combine.

Advantage: Bamba His record wingspan and agility, give Mo the major edge here. Bagley is an explosive athlete, but not enough for his lack of length to make up for Bamba’s physical gifts.
