Atlanta Hawks Add Trae Young In Odd Mid-Draft Trade
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Hawks drafted Luka Doncic third overall in the NBA Draft. His time as a Hawk was short lived when he was shipped to Dallas for Trae Young.
The Atlanta Hawks got the player they coveted in point guard Trae Young, it was a surprising move. The Hawks without time left to trade down, drafted the player the Dallas Mavericks coveted and received Young and a future first-round pick in exchange.
For the Hawks, I absolutely loved this move as Young was one of my favorite prospects in this draft. Outside of Bagley, I view him as the best offensive fit for the Hawks and he will free the Hawks to make future moves.
Young is a free passer he will have his share of turnovers but it is balanced out by his shot-creating ability. If you are open Young will find a way to get you the ball.
He is a pure point guard who will fit in well in Atlanta. Putting him with John Collins and Taurean Prince is a great fit for both sides.
Young has an elite range as well from three-point range he is an offensive weapon and plays with a huge motor.
Adding him to their roster is the best move for the team and will accelerate the rebuild for a team who will be playing in a very weak Eastern Conference.
The biggest concern for Young is his size and ability to play defense. At just over six-feet Young is slightly built and will have to prove his ability to play defense.

At times he appeared uninterested in college on the defensive end and his team was hurt because of it. Young is a fantastic pick for a team who needs shooting badly. Save the comparisons, Young is his own player who has the ability to be special for Hawks in the seasons to come.
