With the 19th pick in the NBA draft, the Atlanta Hawks took Kevin Huerter in a solid move. Huerter will fit perfectly beside Trae Young and fit into the new NBA.

The Atlanta Hawks drafted shooting guard Kevin Huerter out of Maryland. Huerter is a three-point shooter who has great size at 6’7 for a shooting guard. He will fit in perfectly with Trae Young.

Young and Huerter are a part of the new style of NBA players who are focused on passing and hitting the three-point shot at a consistent level.

Huerter isn’t horribly athletic around the rim but has the ability to finish and has a good ability to pass.

He has a deep range and should turn into a solid three-and-D player for Atlanta. Putting him in the mix with Trae Young and John Collins should make the Hawks very fast up and down the floor and give them the ability to score from anywhere on their side of the court.

Huerter can play defense at a high level and should have no problem translating his ability to play defense to the NBA level. Watching him in college it became very obvious he is a hustle player who puts himself back into plays.

Due to his limited athleticism, he has to continue this at the NBA level if he wants to find success. His shot should translate without any issue. He is a long shooting guard who is going to block shots and stretch the floor on the offensive end.

For the Hawks, they added a tandem that should put Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore on notice they are headed out of Atlanta.

Next: Hawks Add Trae Young

Both players are tied to huge contract Atlanta may struggle to free themselves from. The Hawks added an underrated piece in Kevin Huerter, a piece that will help the team win now and in the seasons to come.
