Atlanta Braves: Ronald Acuna Jr. Set to Return to Every Day Lineup
By Kit Anderson
Ronald Acuna Jr. will be returning to the Braves lineup this weekend as the Braves take on the St. Louis Cardinals.
Watching the Braves over the last week it has become obvious the team misses the energy Acuna brought to the team. Acuna is being activated after missing a month with an ugly knee injury the team chose to be extra cautious with.
Acuna was running down the first-base line when he attempted to stop and his leg and knee buckled. It was as ugly of an injury I have ever watched reminiscent of Chipper’s knee injury early in his career.
Luckily for Acuna and the Braves, his injury wasn’t nearly as severe and he will be rejoining the lineup tomorrow night as the Braves take on the Cardinals.
After playing .500 ball this month the team needs a good road trip to stabilize their division League and remind everyone the team they are capable of being when their young stars are healthy.
The team thrives on Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr. hitting atop the lineup and energizing the team.
Acuna will be playing left field and give the Braves a solid outfield completed by Nick Markakis and Ender Inciarte. The team is headed on a tough road slate facing the Cardinals, Brewers, and Yankees over the next week.
Getting Acuna back at such an opportune time is good for the Braves and their chances to compete against the top teams in the League.
Acuna hit .265 so far this season and will bring a much-needed power threat back to the lineup.
The young outfielder will improve the defense as well with a better glove than anyone who has filled in for the rookie.
Another side note to this story is the fact it sends Charlie Culberson back to the bench who has played well for the team in Acuna’s absence.
