Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn just can’t seem to get any deserved love.

On Tuesday, NFL.Com’s, Elliot Harrison, released NFL Head Coach rankings heading into the 2018 season and Atlanta Falcons Coach, Dan Quinn, coming off back to back winning seasons and two playoff runs, came in at #11.

Ahead of Coach Quinn was Bill Belichick, Sean Payton, Pete Carroll, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh,  Mike McCarthy, Andy Reid, Doug Pederson, Jon Gruden and Mike Zimmer.

Here’s Elliot Harrison’s reasoning of Coach Quinn coming in at #11:

“Following up a Super Bowl berth with a win in the postseason keeps Quinn in the discussion as one of the top head coaches in the NFL. The Falcons didn’t fold last year, despite suffering what might be the most painful loss in Super Bowl history. Atlanta won on the road in Wild Card Weekend, then came to a ball through Julio Jones’ grasp from reaching the NFC Championship Game. Quinn has surely surpassed Arthur Blank and Thomas Dimitroff’s expectations, given the state of affairs following the 2014 season.”-

That is a very good explanation from Mr. Harrison. However, the one glaring problem with Mr. Harrison’s rankings is that Coach Quinn missed the cut over Jon Gruden…a man who has been in the TV booth for over a decade.

While I have plenty of respect for Coach Gruden and the work that he did with the Oakland Raiders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, being in the top 10 after not coaching for a decade is flat out laughable.

Based on Coach Quinn’s three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, he has proven himself to be a Top 10 head coach in this league. As Mr. Harrison said, the Falcons could have easily folded last season after losing to the Patriots in Super Bowl 51.

However, the Falcons responded, their defense is now on the cusp of being élite and now have a chance to, somewhat, erase the demons of Super Bowl 51 with a chance to play in that covenant Home Super Bowl with arguably the most talented roster in the league….all under DQ’s watch.

It seems like Mr. Harrison is living in the past and not the present with some of his rankings…that needs to change.
