Atlanta Braves 2018 Trade Deadline Targets

5. The team will have very little to spend during the trade deadline

Looking at the amount of dead cap space taken up on the Braves’ roster it is obvious the team will have very little they want to spend on the trade market.

Adding in their history of being a cheap team it seems unlikely the team will make any splashy moves. Acquiring a cheap bullpen arm or a veteran third baseman are the moves fans should be expecting.

A lot of cap space will be cleared after the end of this season. Expiring deals and bad contracts will finally come off of the books and the Braves can be big spenders in free agency.

But for now, the team is going to be cautious taking on expiring or cheap deals only.  Meaning big names like Machado are likely out of reasonable consideration.
