The Atlanta Braves (49-37) lost another one on the road today. That’s three in a row. Welcome to the grind.

We all believed for a night. After our NL East leading Atlanta Braves won in NY, against the best team in MLB, we all thought the same thing: They could do this. They couldn’t. We were reminded, quickly, that our beloved Braves are still in rebuild. But, we’ve played, so well. We are legit. Seriously, legit. We garner attention. National attention in July. But, here ATL is. Sitting on a tough three game losing streak, and have three more games at a place where we don’t, usually, play well. Welcome to the grind.

So, here we are. What does it mean? It means the grind has started. It means the Atlanta Braves are in the mix. The team. Who they are. What it means. For the actual players. For their fans who are showing to the yard. They are still figuring themselves out.

To be a legit contender, you have to go through stretches like these and persevere…sometimes maintain…sometimes withstand.

Look, we know, and they know, They will battle. They will battle in every game. In spite of the flaws, and regardless of “young talent”, and ridiculous bullpen situations, the reason why “Braves Country” is rallying is because they don’t quit. In every game. That’s virtuous, certainly in baseball.

But, here we stand. The Phillies are figuring it out, for the time being, and the Nats are spiraling, and the Atlanta Braves’ lead in the NL Division is down to a game. Two wins in the win column.

This is the first real grind for this team. And, what’s funny, is that, if you looked that July schedule, folks would’ve taken it…in camp.

We, as Atlanta Braves fans, are waiting for that moment to believe. Chances are, it won’t come until August. That’s the reality. And the real.

If this team grinds out a series win at Milwaukee, it sends a message. To our boys. To their boys. To all teams.

If not, welcome to the grind. Either way, welcome to the grind.

We’ve got talent. We’ve got chemistry. We’ve got a city willing to show up.

We’re about to find out if everyone is right; If were are a year early.
