The Atlanta Hawks drafted box office when they added Trae Young. Young is already helping make the Hawks relevant again in 2018.

Watching Trae Young struggle early on for the Atlanta Hawks in summer league hasn’t been a surprise. Many players struggle to adjust to the speed of an NBA game. Add in the overall lack of talent in summer league and there will be some ugly games.

What has interested me the most is watching, is how much Young has caught the NBA world’s attention.

Most sports talk shows have had a segment on Young since he has struggled in summer league. What Hawks’ player been talked about in summer league on National TV?

The answer is no one in a very long time, Young is box office and everyone wants to give their hot take.

Watching Young it is obvious he is an elite scorer, watch highlights and you will see him demand the defenses attention. He can drive it in the lane catching five pairs of eyes or will often have two players stepping towards him as he passes half court.

Players are paying attention to Trae. Attention they haven’t shown many other rookies playing in summer league.

Why?  The answer is simple, Trae Young is what the new NBA looks like. Young can shoot the ball from just over half court and has a great passing ability. He knows how to score the basketball and is going to be a good point guard in this League.

Young has captured the attention of the NBA world, something a Hawk’s player hasn’t done in a very long time. Having Young won’t make the Hawks a playoff team just yet, but it will make them relevant again.
