Despite the Atlanta Braves surprising everyone with their young talent, there are a couple of positions in need of help.

The Braves have been a wonderful surprise all season long.  The young, talented roster is turning heads everywhere they go.  However, there are a couple of positions that need some help.  Positions that need to be addressed in order to propel this team deep into the postseason.

The positions in need of help are third base, starting pitching, and relief pitching.

Third baseman Johan Camargo hasn’t been bad, but he hasn’t been good either.  He has been up and down all year, giving off an inconsistent play style.  Nonetheless, he is a tremendous defender.  His defensive ability in the so-called “hot corner” is simply amazing.  Though, his inconsistency on offense is calling for an upgrade.  The Braves haven’t had a good, reliable third baseman since Chipper Jones and now is the time to make a move.

Next, starting pitching hasn’t been awful but relief pitching has been abysmal.  Our starters who have been getting the job done are Sean Newcomb, Mike Foltynewicz, and occasionally Mike Soroka (if he stays off the DL) and Anibal Sanchez.  We haven’t seen Sanchez or Soroka enough yet to confidently say they are consistent, though.

Brandon McCarthy and Julio Teheran, on the other hand, have been everything but good.  Their 4.92 and 4.47 ERA, respectively, should be setting off alarms.  In addition to starting pitching, relief pitching has been absolutely horrendous.  There have been countless times where the Braves will have the lead for the majority of the game, if not the entire game, then our relief pitching would blow it.

There is a ton of young talent that would fit great in the Braves’ roster as the Trade Deadline gets a little closer.

Now, without further ado, let’s get into the top players the Braves should pursue with the Trade Deadline looming.
