Atlanta Braves: Top Players the Braves Should Target with Trade Deadline Looming
2. Mike Moustakas
Now here is a more realistic acquisition at third base. Mike Moustakas is not the best player at the trade deadline, but he is definitely not the worst. Though, the 29-year-old veteran doesn’t have eye-popping stats this season. He currently has a .258 AVG and 17 Home Runs, which the latter stat is much better than the former. Those stats are comparable to Johan Camargo’s, who is hitting .256 and 9 Home Runs. Camargo is more of a utility player rather than a full-time third baseman, whereas Moustakas is built and plays more like a third baseman.
Also with Austin Riley’s debut looming, Moustakas could come in and teach him since he is a reliable veteran.
There seems to be a lot of upside to acquiring Moustakas and I could see him being in the lineup come July 31st, but it is a matter of whether or not we want to invest in a player like that.
