Atlanta Falcons Extend Head Coach and GM on Heels of Julio Jones News
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons made some positive headlines today for a change extending Head Coach Dan Quinn and General Manager Thomas Dimitroff.
The Atlanta Falcons extended their leadership today in a good move for a team whose culture is changing.
Dan Quinn is a big part of why the Falcons are relevant. He came in and installed a winning culture in a city where losing was all too normal.
Both Dimitroff and Quinn were given three-year deals. A good decision considering the Falcons have not had any horrible misses in the draft or free agency in recent memory.
The news is even more welcome as the only Falcons headlines of late surround Julio Jones and his holdout.
Quinn has guided the Falcons to an NFC championship and came close to another last season if not for poor playcalling from his OC.
Dimitroff has helped put together one of the League’s best offenses and a fast and intimidating defense. HIs moves over the last three years have all seemingly worked out and earned him at least three more seasons in Atlanta.
This year the challenge for Atlanta will be dealing with Julio Jones situation and be dealing with the understandably high expectations.
Making the playoffs may have been considered a success in seasons past in Atlanta. This year with the Super Bowl in our own backyard nothing short of making the Super Bowl will be considered a good season for Atlanta.
The extensions may be well deserved but they come with strings attached. Expectations that winning in Atlanta will continue and the ever elusive Super Bowl trophy will finally make its way t Atlanta.
While Dimitroff deserves a lot of credit for his moves it has just been since Dan Quinn joined the fold the team has found consistent success.
As long as the duo remains in Atlanta fans should stay optimistic their team will stay relevant in a stacked NFC conference.
