The Atlanta Braves have interest in longtime Ranger’s third baseman Adrian Beltre. Though it is a longshot the Braves could deal for the veteran improving their lineup.

Adrian Beltre is unlikely to be traded according to MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan but he lists the Braves as a team of interest. Beltre would make a lot of sense for the Braves as they trail the Phillies and have struggled on offense as of late.

Adding a veteran leader who knows how to win would be good for the clubhouse and the lineup. The problem with this potential deal is convincing the Rangers to do a deal with Beltre and the fact he has full trade protection.

Beltre must agree to any trade the Rangers agree to. Meaning even if the Braves can convince Texas to part with the fan-favorite there is still a chance he could shoot the deal down.

The key to making any such deal is going to be first convincing Beltre he has a chance to win with Atlanta in the postseason. If they are able to convince Beltre it would be worth a trade to play the final two months in Atlanta the Rangers are likely to agree to a deal.

Beltre is hitting .294 on the season coming into today’s action and would slot in at third base for Atlanta. Johan Camargo and Dansby Swanson would likely alternate playing time at short and Camargo giving Beltre plenty of days off at third.

Swanson has struggled to hit lefties this season so adding a good hitter like Beltre would make Atlanta’s bench much deeper and allow Swanson more days off.

Adrian Beltre to Atlanta may be a long shot but it makes far too much sense for the team not to give every effort to bring the veteran to Atlanta. More to come as the trade deadline looms ever closer.
