The Atlanta Braves have traded with the Orioles for Brad Brach. Brach will help to stabilize the Braves pen along with newly acquired Jonny Venters.

According to a report from the Baltimore Sun’s Eduardo Encina the Braves have traded for Brad Brach.  The reliever has a career 3.16 ERA with 32 saves, he will join newly acquired Jonny Venters in the Atlanta bullpen.

Atlanta sent the Orioles international bonus pool money in exchange. The Braves have now acquired two relievers without parting with any players or prospects.

Acquiring two players who make the team better without trading a prospect is impressive and points to the fact the front office likely isn’t done.

Trading for a starter or a third baseman could still be in the plans. A starter would be the best option considering the Braves need for another solid starter.

Third base could make sense as well if the front office decided to add a right-handed option allowing Dansby Swanson days off.  Johan Camargo would likely platoon at third and give Swanson days off against lefties.

A solid starting pitcher would allow the team to have an arm they can count on behind Mike Foltynewicz and Sean Newcomb.

Three solid pitchers who can pitch in high leverage starts is a must if the team has any legitimate hopes of the postseason.

Watching the team since June it is obvious they are close but without a solid addition have very little hope of making noise in the postseason.

Since the beginning of June, the team is under .500 and the offense has struggled to look like the same lineup that led the League in runs early in the season.
