Atlanta Falcons Early Season Predictions Have Falcons Flying High
It’s that time of the year again. Training Camp for the Falcons began this past Friday and also the time where predictions for the season start to come in.
However, if some of these early predictions turn out to be true for the Atlanta Falcons, this season could turn out to be a special one. Early predictions range from the Falcons winning the NFC South to….winning the Super Bowl (in Atlanta).
Here’s a breakdown of the predictions:
In Nate Davis’ breakdown of the 2018 season, he predicts that the Falcons will finish atop of the NFC South at 11-5, barely squeaking by the Saints. Davis predicts that the Falcons will have the third seed in the NFC, defeating the Packers and Vikings before the NFC Championship Game.
In the NFC Title Game, Davis predicts the Falcons will beat the Saints, in Atlanta, to play in that covenant first home Super Bowl. There, in Super Bowl 53, Davis predicts the Falcons will win their first Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Chargers.
"“Maybe, finally this is the team that will play the Super Bowl on its own turf? Matt Ryan and Co. will need a familiar quantum leap in Year 2 under offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian that they enjoyed in a similar scenario with Kyle Shanahan in 2016. The difference with this club is a lightning-quick defense that’s in full bloom — the primary reason the Falcons came closest to derailing the Eagles in last season’s playoffs. With five of its first seven at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta will need to make early hay to ensure its final game is there, too.”- Nate Davis"
Pete Prisco also predicts that the Falcons will finish on top of the division at 12-4, however, with home field advantage at least through the divisional round.
Prisco predicts that the Falcons will get revenge against the Philadelphia Eagles in a home playoff game in the divisional round. In the NFC Championship, Prisco has the Falcons heading up to Lambeau Field to play the Packers, losing a heartbreaker 31-30.
The early predictions show how high most experts are on the Falcons. With Steve Sarkisian most likely improving in Year 2, a loaded offense and a defense that could be very scary, the Falcons have a legitimate shot to get to that last game in February.
But first things first….they must get through the grind to get to the promise land and that begins with the first pre-season game a week from today as the Falcons season finally kicks off once again.
