The Entire 2nd Year Front Court Will Be Newcomers

The high roster turnover, has given the Atlanta Hawks many new candidates for both starting, and backup spots. At backup Center, holdover Miles Plumlee will battle newcomer Alex Len. At PF, Omari Spellman stands to be the backup to John Collins. 2 way player Alex Poythress is also able to see some minutes there. At reserve SF Kent Bazemore will be the favorite. However, since I predict Baze will be traded, DeAndre Bembry will battle former 76er Justin Anderson for the job.

I’m predicting Alex Len, who put up career highs of 15.1 points and 13.4 rebounds per 36 minutes, will win the backup center spot. I expect Justin Anderson to win the backup SF spot. Justin is a superb perimeter defender, and is also familiar with Coach Lloyd Pierce’s schemes. I also expect rookie stretch big man Omari Spellman, who shot 36% from 3 at Villanova, to win the backup PF position.
