The Atlanta Falcons could catch a break in week one missing Carson Wentz. Nick Foles could be the starter in week one against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons could miss Carson Wentz in week one though it will be close according to this ESPN report. It seems likely Nick Foles could start in week one, a big break for Atlanta considering Wentz is a more consistent and dangerous quarterback then Foles.

Nick Foles knocked Atlanta out of the playoffs last season behind a dominant defense. His subpar performance against the Falcons is the norm for his career. Granted he followed it up with lighting up the Vikings heralded defense and taking down the Patriots in the Super Bowl but he is due for another Nick Foles outing.

Foles is a decent quarterback who lacks the legs or arm of Carson Wentz. Taking on Foles instead of Wentz would be a big break for Atlanta in week one.

The opening game of the season and Carson Wentz is still questionable coming off of a season-ending injury last season.

Nick Foles stepped in and led the Eagles to a storybook ending getting the Eagles through the playoffs and into the Super Bowl.

But with a new season upon us, the Eagles will sneak up on no one and with plenty of tape on Foles it is obvious as well as he played he is no Carson Wentz.

Wentz is a top ten quarterback who can keep plays alive with his legs. If he were to miss week one it would be to the benefit of Atlanta and the Falcons.

There is also the fact even if he were to be healthy enough for a week one start he would need time to get acclimated and up to NFL speed once again. Wentz would need at least one game to get re-acclimated to game speed.

Carson Wentz is one of the good guys in the game this isn’t at all a hope he can’t go in week one. But rather pointing out whether or not he goes in the first week of the season Atlanta will have an advantage over Foles or Wentz as he gets back up to speed.
