In Game 2 of the 2018 Preseason, the Atlanta Falcons looked to off a dismal performance against the New York Jets in Game 1. This week, the Kansas City Chiefs stood in the Falcons way.

Safe to say the Atlanta Falcons offense did not disappoint. Last week, the Falcons first team offense could not get anything going in one drive against the Jets.

This week, from the jump, the Falcons offense showed signs of how special they could be this season. In a 3rd and long situation on the first drive of the game, Matt Ryan hit Austin Hooper for a gain of 29 yards.

Tevin Coleman showed how dangerous he could be, running with the purpose for two strong gains of 15 yards. To cap off the drive, Austin Hooper showed his athleticism, with a spectacular 4-yard touchdown catch.

Matt Schaub and the 2nd team offense even got in on the action.

The second team offense moved the ball methodically down the field with short runs and short passes that ended in a Calvin Ridley touchdown catch that capped off a 15 play, 75-yard drive that lasted 8 minutes, 28 seconds.

So what did we learn based off Game 2?

We learned that Falcons fans should be optimistic about this Falcon’s offense.

While some may feel like last years offense was a disappointment, many forget that the Falcons still had a Top 10 offense.

Tonight, they showed that they have the ability to improve on that ranking. Mind you, they did this without Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman.

Tevin Coleman ran the ball effectively, Austin Hooper keeps showing that he’s ready to have his breakout year and Calvin Ridley was doing Calvin Ridley things. Now we know that Ridley can return kicks…Look Out.

dark. Next. Braves Off-season Targets

Next weeks dress rehearsal against the Jaguars will be a different beast on its own. However, if this week showed us one thing, it’s that the Falcons offense all right and maybe, just maybe, could be as special as it was in 2016.
