The Atlanta Hawks have made it clear they are now banking their rebuild completely on Trae Young. Young was the Hawk’s first-round pick they have spent much of their off-season building their team around.

The Atlanta Hawks have spent their off-season setting up for Trae Young to be their cornerstone of the future. The Hawks are betting on Young turning into a franchise player who can help bring Atlanta back to relevance.

Dennis Schroder’s days in Atlanta are over after the Hawks dealt him earlier in the off-season making room for Trae Young to start. Schroder was a locker room issue and has failed to live up to expectations.

Dealing him to OKC and eating salary in return made it clear Atlanta is serious about Trae Young being their future. Even if you don’t believe the Schroder trade was completely about Trae Young look at the other moves the Hawks have made this off-season.

Drafting Kevin Huerter and Omari Spellman, two players who will perfectly play around and compliment Trae Young’s style of play.

Having John Collins focus on improving his shooting in the summer league and playing with a small lineup.

Both of these moves point to the fact the Hawks are transitioning to a new style of basketball, Trae Young’s style of basketball.

Trae Young is a new style player who sets up his teammates with an elite passing ability while being up to pull up from just over half court and drain a three.

It is a Golden State style of basketball Atlanta is hoping to copy and find success. The Hawks added veterans, Jeremy Lin and Vince Carter, as well to help guide and influence a young Hawks roster.

Lin will be a good influence on Young, teaching him how an NBA point guard should carry himself. It will be an improvement over the toxic situation that would have developed between Dennis Schroder and Trae Young.
