We are one week away from Georgia Bulldogs College Football opening week. After a long 8 month wait, we are a week away from Football.

That’s has me thinking about the 2018 version of the Georgia Bulldogs. The last time we saw the Georgia Bulldogs on a national stage, they were just a couple plays away from a National Title win against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Although that was a devastating loss for the Dawgs, the 2017 season was the most memorable season for Georgia in quite some time.

After a disappointing 8-5 record in Kirby Smart’s first season in 2016, the Dawgs went on a magical 11-2 run in 2017 that included the Dawgs first SEC Championship in 12 years and the instant classic Rose Bowl victory against Oklahoma.

So now we enter the 2018 season. Expectations are high. The standard is set.The Bulldogs enter the 2018 season with a loaded roster from top to bottom.

Jake Fromm returns with an excellent supporting cast with the likes of D’Andre Swift, Mecole Hardman, Terry Godwin, Riley Ridley and newly transferred, Demetris Robinson just to name a few.

The defense has the tall task of replacing many departures including Roquan Smith, Lorenzo Carter, and Davin Bellamy. However, with a lockdown secondary that features first-team preseason All-American, Deandre Baker and a front seven with Julian Rochester and D’Andre Walker, the Dawgs should still be an excellent unit.

The question now is…Can the Dawgs be even better this season and be 12-0  for a possible rematch against Alabama in the SEC Championship? It’s quite possible.

As of right now, the Dawgs enter the season as the 3rd ranked team in the AP Poll. Based on their schedule, the Dawgs play two ranked teams on their schedule.

Sure, road challenges against South Carolina, a sleeper team in Missouri and in Death Valley will be difficult and there’s always the big one against Florida.

However, Jake Fromm is more than well equipped to handle a few challenges on the road, with big wins against Notre Dame and Oklahoma under his belt from last year and with would be an excellent offense and an already good defense, it’s not to far fetched to say the Dawgs can go 12-0.

Next. Braves Off-season Targets. dark

There’s so much to anticipate for these Georgia Bulldogs. With a possible 12-0 run and a clash with Alabama that could be the “Rematch of the Century”, this season is shaping up to be special. Hopefully, it ends in Levi’s Stadium with the Dawgs hoisting the trophy they should’ve hoisted in Atlanta.
