Reunions

The Atlanta Dream got a huge boost with the return of their superstar Angel McCoughtry. McCoughtry, a two-time Olympic Goal Medalist, had taken a year off to rest her body. She typically plays basketball in Europe every season, in addition to the WNBA. McCoughtry has been with the Dream since 2009. She has player her entire WNBA career here thus far, leading the team to the Finals three times.

Angel McCoughtry returned to team with a bang, earning her fifth All Star appearance. She averaged 16.5 points, six rebounds, and three assists for the 2018 campaign. Much more than stats, she brings experience and leadership that can’t be quantified by stats.

Angel’s return wasn’t the only reunion for the Atlanta Dream, the team also reacquired guard Alex Bently in a trade with the Connecticut Sun. The Dream sent guard Layshia Clarendon and a 2019 2nd round pick to the Sun in exchange for Bently. This trade gave Head Coach Nikki Collen a player she was familiar and comfortable with, having coached her as an assistant in Connecticut. She has been a key contributor off of the bench for Atlanta with her scoring and passing.
