Georgia Football: Five Things to Watch vs Austin Peay
Wild Dawg Formation
The wild-dawg formation, has a special place in the hearts of Georgia Football fans everywhere. Especially after Sony Michel took a direct snap 27 yards to pay dirt, in a rose bowl clinching run. The formation is the Georgia Bulldogs’ version of the wildcat offense, originated by Atlanta Falcons quarterback coach, and former offensive coordinator Greg Knapp. The offense was made famous by the Miami Dolphins of the NFL.
Sony Michel has moved on to the NFL, but the wild-dawg lives on for Georgia Football. This year a possible new wrinkle may be added to the formation. Justin Fields, a 5-star true freshman, comes into Athens as the number one dual threat quarterback, in the class of 2018.
Justin Field’s arrival gives offensive coordinator Jim Cheney the ability to call a lot more run pass option plays. Justin is also expected to get entire series in this game as well. It will be interesting to see if how he is used, gives us a glimpse of how he can provide a new dimension moving forward.
