Inside Linebacker

The burning question for a plethora of Georgia Football fans, is how in the world will the Dawgs replace Roquan Smith? Truth be told, Smith the Butkas award winner, and his production, will be virtually impossible for one man to replace. It’s going to take a collective effort from all the linebackers and safetys, to make up for the absence of Roquan.

Natrez Patrick was the starter next to Roquan Smith down the stretch of last season. The 6’3, 242 pound senor should be in line to start once again. Patrick’s main issue is that he needs to stay our of trouble.

Monty Rice is a name that has generated a lot of conversations in camp. Rice at 6’1 235 pounds is very fast for a linebacker. He’s said to be faster physically, than Roquan Smith was, so it’s just a matter of him learning to read and diagnose plays in order to play full speed.

Juwon Taylor is an undersized linebacker at 6’1 218. The senior should see a large number of snaps against Austin Peay. Tae Crowder a 6’3 235 pound former running back, is also strongly in the mix for inside linebacker. Watching how these guys play, and seeing which of these guys step up, will be riveting viewing Saturday.
