The Georgia Bulldogs are getting set for their first real test of the season on Saturday. The Dawgs will be taking on #24 South Carolina in their first SEC matchup of the season.

Watching the Georgia Bulldogs last week was something of a warmup game. A game where separating just how good the Dawgs actually are, from how bad their opponent was proved difficult.

Georgia won against Austin Peay 45-0 in a warmup game. Now Georgia is set to take on their first true test in South Carolina. South Carolina is a program that is quickly improving. They have better depth than they have in a number of seasons demonstrated by their #24th ranking.

This will be the Bulldogs first chance to feel out if they have shaken off last year’s heartbreaking end and are ready to once again rule the SEC.

The biggest question facing the Dawgs is one SEC rival Alabama has been struggling with as well. Who will prove to be the starting quarterback in Athens?

Jake Fromm appears to have the edge of Justin Fields so far. Rightly so, considering Fromm taking over from Eason last season and guiding his team all the way to a National Championship berth.

Fromm has a better arm and should have a better understanding of the Georgia offense. For Fields, it is clear he has all the talent in the world and will be used often in scheme plays or blowouts.

A win against South Carolina is almost a must considering Georgia still has Auburn and LSU on their schedule. Both LSU and Auburn appear to be capable of competing for the SEC this year and will give Georgia all they can handle.

Having an experienced quarterback like Fromm, who has been in high-pressure situations will be more beneficial for the Dawgs in these important games.

South Carolina is coming off of a 49-15 win against Coastal. Much like Georgia, their ranking is yet to be proven despite their depth.

They will give last season’s SEC champs all they can handle on Saturday as both teams attempt to make a statement early in the season.
