Saying the Atlanta Falcons must win week two may seem odd, but it is true for a team who started their season with an ugly road loss. Facing a 0-2 start would make it very difficult for the Falcons to make the playoffs in 2018.

Watching the Atlanta Falcons in week one may have been as disappointing a regular season loss since Mike Smith was Head Coach in Atlanta. It wasn’t so much the team they lost to, as it was how they lost.

Going 1-for-5 in the red zone after last season ended with the same trouble wasn’t exactly comforting. Matty Ryan misfired often failing to throw a touchdown pass hitting less than 50 percent of his passes.

Now the Falcons will head back home to face a banged-up Carolina Panthers team. The Panthers have had injury struggles all over their offensive line and could have a difficult time pass blocking for Cam.

Why is this a must-win game for Atlanta you might be wondering? The answer is very simple, a 0-2 start may not promise the Falcons to miss the playoffs, but it certainly would hobble them to start off the year 0-2 with tough teams still ahead of them.

The Steelers, Saints(twice), Packers, Ravens, and Cowboys are all still on the Atlanta schedule and could cause matchup issues for the Falcons.

Winning against Carolina is a must if Atlanta wants to stay in the driver’s seat early this season. To win this game Ryan is going to have to expose the Carolina secondary making throws past the numbers and making Carolina take men out of the box.

Running against Carolina as anything other than a distraction isn’t an option, they feature a solid front seven who took Zeke Elliot essentially out of last week’s game.

Limiting him to 69 yards and making Dak Prescott throw the ball. Dak was unable to make throws and the Cowboys lost 16-8. For the story to end differently for the Falcons Matt Ryan must play better making throws he didn’t last week.
