Atlanta Braves Getting Back Arodys Vizcaino For Important Stretch Run
The Atlanta Braves are getting back Arodys Vizcaino from the disabled list at the right time. Vizcaino could help stabilize the back end of the Atlanta bullpen as they get set for the postseason.
Arodys Vizcaino is being added back to the Atlanta Braves bullpen after a long stretch on the disabled list. Vizcaino was the team’s closer to start the season and converted 15 of 17 save chances.
Vizcaino will add another power arm to the team’s bullpen and help them greatly in the postseason. His 1.60 ERA and 35 K’s in 33.2 innings point to his value to the team.
While he may not be an elite closer he will greatly help the Atlanta bullpen adding a flame-throwing arm.
With the Braves youth in their rotation and bullpen, Vizcaino can offer veteran leadership as well. Giving the Braves young arms a player who has pitched in high leverage situations.
The Braves are sitting seven games up over the falling Phillies. The Phillies have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games and are struggling to win ballgames. The magic number for the Braves to clinch is now nine games with just over two weeks left in the season.
With two series left against the Phillies, the Braves will struggle to clinch the division before one of their final two series of the season.
Statistically, with 14 games left (7 against the Phillies), it is almost certain the team will have to clinch against their division rival.
The Braves have series left against the Phillies, Mets, and Cardinals. The Phillies and Cardinals are both hanging in the wildcard race with the Cardinals 1 game back and the Phillies 5.5 back from a postseason spot.
Both teams will give the Braves all they can handle as they make their last postseason gasp. The Braves will wrap up their series against the Nationals on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:35PM EST.
