Saying the Atlanta Falcons are banged up headed into week three may be an understatement as the team has officially lost Devonta Freeman and Takk Mckinley for week three.

Takk Mckinley has been one of the Atlanta Falcons bright spots early on this season. He is consistently hustling and pushing his blocker backward towards the quarterback getting 2.0 sacks already this season. With the groin injury he suffered in week two he will now miss at least one week.

Without Takk the Atlanta pass rush could be in trouble against the Saints. They will have to rely on Vic Beasley Jr. and Brooks Reed to create extra pressure on Brees during Sunday’s tilt.

Brooks Reed will likely earn the start in place of Takk and give the Falcons an above average replacement. Reed is a pure pass rusher who has made big plays in the past, including a game-winning sack against the Bears last season.

Tevin Coleman will be starting in place of the now often injured Devonta Freeman. Coleman isn’t a downgrade considering he brings a better ability to explode off the edge and is averaging five yards a tote. Freeman is more of a typical between the tackles running back lacking the homerun ability Coleman brings to the team.

Deion Jones and Keanu Neal will both miss their second weeks as well with Neal being out for the season and Jones being placed on IR. Jones is expected back within ten weeks while Neal will not suit up for the Falcons again this season.

Jones, Neal, and Takk are all huge losses for an Atlanta defense getting ready to take on Drew Brees and the Saints.

To win on Sunday Atlanta is going to have to rely on their offensive attack. Matt Ryan must keep the offense on the field consistently driving giving their defense the extra rest they will need.
