The Atlanta Falcons season is off to a disappointing 1-2 start after the team has been demolished by injuries. Sunday’s loss was a tough one to swallow losing in overtime to the hated Saints.

The Atlanta Falcons put up 37 points at home in their own building and lost. Something we aren’t used to seeing in the Dan Quinn era. Not only did the offense score 37, Matt Ryan played a nearly perfect game tossing five touchdowns and keeping the ball secure avoiding turnovers.

The fact this happened and the team still lost is disappointing and points to an injury ravaged defense. A defense incapable of stopping anyone on Sunday letting the Saints rack up over 500 yards.

It was an ugly game defensively and the Falcons had their game come down to a simple coin flip in overtime. But with a 1-2 start and getting into the heart of their schedule is it panic time in Atlanta?

The easy answer is no, it isn’t time to panic just yet for Atlanta. Coach Quinn will figure out the problems on defense and give the Falcons a better chance to win.

Not only that but the Falcons have played against three quality potential playoff teams in the Eagles, Saints, and Panthers. A rough start isn’t something they cannot overcome with games against the Bengals, Giants, Bucs, and Browns all upcoming.

All four teams are beatable and are far from the elite offense Drew Brees leads in New Orleans. The Falcons rash of injuries won’t continue, they will get healthier and play better on the defensive side.

Lost in the injuries and two losses is the fact the Falcon’s red-zone offense has been perfect the last two games. Atlanta has taken the struggles from the first game to heart and is playing at the highest level in scoring situations.

Calvin Ridley has emerged as well racking up over 150-yards last week and snatching touchdowns with ease. The Falcons are still an elite team that has been hurt by injuries and tough opponents early.

It isn’t panic time for Atlanta just yet, it is time for a reset as the easy part of the schedule comes Atlanta’s way and they again prove they are playoff bound in 2018.
