The Atlanta Braves are starting their final regular season series of the year taking on the Phillies in a three-game set. The Braves will attempt to compete for postseason positioning while still resting and keeping their starters healthy.

For the first time in half a decade, the Atlanta Braves are headed to the postseason. The new generation of “Baby Braves” have captured Atlanta’s attention and have given the Braves front office reason to be excited about the future.

This weekend’s series should be interesting to watch as the Braves attempt to lock up a top postseason spot while still staying healthy.

Watching how Brian Snitker manages the team giving them a chance to win while still resting starters and keeping his team healthy will be interesting.

The postseason picture is starting to take shape in the National League. The Cubs, Brewers, Dodgers, Rockies, and Cardinals are all vying for the final four spots.

The Cubs and Brewers have both clinched while the weekend series will be huge for the remaining teams. Having the ability to rest starters while the possible competition is playing in must-win games could give the Braves a big advantage.

With their recent struggles at home, the Braves could opt to rest their starters and wait for the chips to fall into place. A risky strategy for a team who everything has fallen for perfectly this season.

The Braves have enjoyed productive seasons from Dansby Swanson, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Ozzie Albies. All three are sporting WAR’s above two and have greatly helped the team turn around the franchise.

Dansby Swanson is dealing with a wrist injury and could miss the start of the postseason. He is expected to hit off of a tee this weekend and the team will evaluate him at the start of next week.
