Atlanta Falcons Offense Receives Another Boost With Freeman’s Return
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons offense will receive another boost with this week’s return of Devonta Freeman. Freeman has been out since week one this season and will be a big help to the 1-3 Falcons.
Watching the Atlanta Falcons over the last four weeks has been nothing short of disappointing. The team never seems to make the one needed play to win. They could easily be 4-0 on the season if they could have found a way to make one play in each game.
Against the Eagles, it was an inability to get the ball into the end-zone resulting in the team losing by less than a touchdown inside the ten. Against the Saints and Bengals, it was an inability to stop the opposing offense whatsoever with the team losing in both games on final drives.
Only against the Panthers did the Falcons play to their potential. Every other game has been a losing effort thanks to a failure to make one play.
Now the offense will receive another boost as starting running back Devonta Freeman returns to the lineup. Freeman is a between the tackles runner who can help create space and will give Matt Ryan yet another weapon.
The problem isn’t the offense, it is the fact the defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone over the last two weeks.
Grady Jarrett has become the latest Falcon to fall to injury and the defensive line will miss him greatly this weekend against the Steelers.
Offensively the Falcons have to hope Freeman will help bring back a dominant run game. With their defenses lack the ability to get off the field long drives are the Falcon’s best shot at winning games.
Controlling the clock and playing keep away will be easier with Freeman in the fold. The Falcons and Steelers will play Sunday as the Falcons make a desperate attempt to turn their season around.
