The Atlanta Braves magical season has come to an end with tonight’s loss to the Dodgers. The Dodgers beat the Braves 6-2 to end their season and advance to take on the Brewers.

Watching the Atlanta Braves this season was special. A team expected to again be a doormat in the National League surprised all of baseball. Led by overachieving veterans and youthful energy the Braves won their division and made the postseason for the first time since 2013.

Going against a loaded Dodger’s roster that youth was evident and Atlanta lost the series 3-1 as LA advances to take on the Brewers.

Watching Atlanta it was obvious at times the stage was a bit big for them. The bullpen and the pitching staff did a patchwork job covering a lot of innings without the dominant aces the Dodgers possess.

While Atlanta’s season may have come to a disappointing end it was a promise of seasons to come. Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies will only get better as the Braves head into the off-season with money to spend to put better pieces around them.

Cornerstone Freddie Freeman will be returning and give the Braves one of the best hitters in the National League.

With the loss, the focus shifts to a 2019 season Braves fans hope Atlanta can finally find success in the postseason. A 2019 season full of high expectations after a magical and impressive 2018 campaign where Atlanta won 90-games when many expected them to lose that many.

Mike Foltynewicz started the final game for Atlanta going four innings and giving up a lone run. The biggest blow came against Brad Brach who gave up a 2-1 Atlanta lead with 2-outs.

From there it was all Dodgers as they cruised to a 6-2 victory and a 3-1 series victory.  Atlanta will now begin to shift their focus to off-season targets and who they could add to an exciting young core in Atlanta.
